Our Story

Erin McPadden started Yoga with M.E. teaching out of her own living room — no studio, no signage, just an idea she'd been writing class schedules for long before there was a business to schedule them. Seven years later, that idea has a real home on Long Beach Road, a teaching team who love these kids like their own, and hundreds of families who've grown up inside it.

Erin didn't know she was allowed to have feelings when she was a kid. That's the real reason this place exists. Every class is built around one idea: big feelings aren't something to fix, hide, or rush through — they're something to move through, literally. Yoga poses, open play, art, breath work — it's all just a way in.

It's a barefoot, muddy-feet kind of place. A beautiful space matters to Erin — color, texture, things with a little age and history to them — but so does letting a four-year-old be loud about how she's feeling. Both things can be true at the same time. That's the whole point.

Erin Parker

Miss Erin didn't set out to open a yoga studio.

She graduated from the University of Rhode Island and spent the first chapter of her career working with at-risk youth — because the well-being of kids has always been the thing she can't not care about.

Then she became a mom. And the more she watched her own three kids grow, the more she kept coming back to one memory: she didn't know, growing up, that she was allowed to have feelings. Nobody had taught her that. She wanted every kid in her neighborhood to know it earlier than she did.

In 2009, with a family of her own and an idea she couldn't shake, Erin started teaching yoga out of her home. She got certified through Karma Kids Yoga in 2016. Seven years — and a lot of living room floors covered in yoga mats — later, Yoga with M.E. found its own space on Long Beach Road in Island Park.
